Burdyke Lodge, Seaford
Full planning permission secured for the change of use of this 23-bed care home to provide 9no. self-contained flats comprising 5no. 2-bed and 4no. 1-bed flats including alterations to fenestration.
The aim of this scheme was to make the most efficient and effective use of this particularly large former care home. The biggest challenge for this project was to present a robust case for the proposed zero provision of on-site car parking to serve future occupiers of the development.
This development will re-use an existing building occupying a sustainable location (being within easy walking distance to the town centre) whilst respecting neighbouring residential amenities. In turn, it will make a valuable contribution to addressing Lewes District Council’s market housing needs.
