Cats Protection HQ, Chelwood Gate

A Variation of Condition was successfully achieved to allow the long-standing occupiers of this large complex of buildings in the Wealden district of East Sussex to implement their new business model.

The offending condition was attached to the original planning permission over 20 years ago. It restricted the use of the site (including all of its varying buildings) to Cats Protection only. However, as a direct consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a signific change in operations.

Consequently, the complex’s office and storage blocks have become surplus to requirement. The variation of condition allows other business to occupy the buildings and use the consented floorspace for their operations – in turn, providing Cats Protection with a new stream of revenue.
