Prior approval secured for the proposed change of use of this former nursery (Use Class E) in Deptford, SE8 to provide 6no. units of residential accommodation (Use Class C3) by utilising Class MA of the Permitted Development Rights (England).

Following the granting of prior approval, a pre-application enquiry was made to ascertain Lewisham Council’s views on the redevelopment of the site in order to provide a higher number of residential units by introducing a significant roof extension and a detached dwelling within the courtyard.

In spite of a sensitive design solution being presented, the Council’s Conservation Officers maintained their objections – citing an impact on adjacent heritage assets. However, when the scheme went before the Council’s Planning Committee, Members offered their unanimous support.
