Marine Drive, Margate
To the delight of nearby residents, a planning application was withdrawn following a successful campaign to block the proposed variation of a condition which prevented the playing of amplified music on the Terrace Deck above the Victorian Shelter on Margate’s promenade.
In this case, we acted for a group of residents who lived adjacent to the terrace deck. The owners of an adjacent restaurant/bar proposed to use for karaoke and other events etc. We submitted written representations on behalf of the residents and also presented our case at Planning Committee.
At the Councils’ public meeting, Members considered that they had insufficient information to reach a decision so invited the applicant to submit additional information. What was submitted fell well short of what was required. The bar has since closed and residential amenities safeguarded.
